Gelato Anybody?
Snuggled away on a corner in Chicago is the worlds most unique Gelato spots. Filled with everything sideshow and circus including preserved mermaids, animal oddities and even a Chicago devil baby. The decor is everything sideshow. Banners and even bumbercars to sit in and take in the ambiance of the old world carnival.
Oh, they also have an amazing selection of homemade gelatos and treats.
Sideshow Gelato is the brainchild of Jay Bliznik, performer and carny turned iced treat peddler. His vision for a venue that serves delicious treats as well as provides a stage for acts like the Spider Girl illusion, sword swallowers, magicians and even the world famous ENIGMA (X Files) came true less than 6 months ago when the space opened up to great fanfare. Even Penn of Penn and Teller is a partner and took the stage in their intimate theatre to a packed house.
I was thrilled to be asked to appear at this unique venue and perform a full mind reading midnight show to a packed house of Chicago fans. I was also more thrilled to see they had created a flavor of gelato after me which even glows in black light. I can now say I have an ice cream named after me.
Scheduled for midnight, I was fashionably late as I was coming from another venue where I was a headline act, The Chicago Magic Lounge. No worries, it was only 15 mins and I took the stage and started by getting into the minds of guests. The show was fun, spooky and exciting and I was happy to meet fans and other Chicago magi who were in attendance. I will be returning for a longer engagement this September.
